A mountain bike is a bike designed specifically for mountain biking, either on earth or in other ways unpaved environments. Mountain bikes are different from regular bikes in a number of possibilities.

Firstly, they have large, knobby tires for extra traction and damping.

Basically there are four different classifications of mountain bikes.

3. Soft tail soft tail mountain bikes have a frame with a small amount of rear suspension, but by the flex of the frame instead of the cone.

4. Dual or full suspension, dual or full suspension mountain bikes have a frame with suspension front and rear with a damper and linkage to move the rear wheel spinning.

Mountain Bike Disc Brakes

There are many important components for the typical mountain bike. One of the main components of a mountain-biking is the mountain bike disc brakes. Mountain bike disc brakes are available on most of the new mountain bike models. Mountain bike disc brakes provide better braking power than the previously used rim brakes.

Mountain bike disc brakes are much better under adverse conditions. This is because they are located in the center of the wheel. As opposed to rim brakes, they stay drier and cleaner than other rims. While there are many benefits of mountain bike disc brakes, there are also some disadvantages. They tend to weigh more and are often more expensive than good.

Maintenance disc brakes on even more difficult and costly. This applies in particular to hydraulic disc brakes, which work by fluid through a hose or line to press the pads together.

It is very important to ensure that your brakes are adequate working conditions. This means that you need for your bike in your local bike shop and get a full inspection at least once a month.
