The most commonly used Mountain Bikes are:

Downhill Bikes: especially for the competition, in which one down the hill. So with that speed, bicycles must be equipped with hard-frame and high-performance brakes, such as CD or hydraulic brakes.

XC bikes: This is a different kind of cycling is high, the competition in which you can also down, and hill climbing. It is a framework should be easy, but quite hard. Brakes, which in this specific bike V-brakes and disc brakes light.

Hybrid bikes: This category of bikes is a good option for those who drive over the mountains and the road.

These bicycles on either the front or on the full suspension suspension (which is a combination of front and rear suspensions). Different types of brakes employed in these bikes are: --

Rim Brakes: They are lightweight and powerful, but their power is in the muddy terrain where they are too smooth.

Disc Brakes: They are light and powerful and are not affected by weather.

Hydraulic Brakes: They are very powerful and does not take much care, but are more expensive than other brakes.

Frame Material: Bikes can be made of aluminum, steel or titanium. These are very important elements of the bicycle as their composition determines the weight, strength, agility and life of the bike.

Height: like conventional bikes, mountain bikes are available in small, medium and large sizes. But other manufacturers use different reference point of measurement, therefore, sizing is not always consistent.

Recent trends:

All Mountain Bikes: The "All Mountain Bikes" are characterized by 5-6 inches (125-150 mm), the rims on a very rough conditions.

29er Bike: This uses 700cc rims size and is suitable for tires of 2 inches (50mm) width or more, so she is able to roll over the obstacles.

Single Speed: This is a blend of simplicity and innovation in suspension design.

Some of the other trends includeStable Platform Technology Prize suspension. Here the compressor shim stack was replaced with a pair of cross-cutting cups. Furthermore, the VPP suspension designs balance different forces, thus unwanted compression without bump absorption.
