history of racing bikes
Road bikes (sometimes in the United Kingdom and some other countries as" racing bikes ") are lightweight bikes for speedy on relatively smooth surfaces. These wheels are equipped with narrow wheels and tires pumped to high pressure, and in the form (including drop handlebars), so the driver sits in an aerodynamic, stretched-out position. In addition, the brake levers and switches are often positioned gear that you can reach, without compromising the hands from the handlebars, and thus the fast gear shift.

Although horseback riding one of these bikes, especially at speed, a lot of fun, road bikes are not usually the best choice for urban commuting. Bicycles are not usually quite sensitive, the range of gear ratios may not be sufficient if there are steep hills in your area, and the brakes are not good enough for emergency stops.

Another thing to remember is that bikes do not usually have wings, or even the ability, they - as a consequence you can not just hop on your bike in your work clothes and expect that the fenders to protect them. Moreover, road bikes, which are not solder-ons for the rack, and even if you have the option of a rack directly to the frame, you must remember that road bikes are not designed for the transport of heavy loads.

In short, if you're looking for a stable durable bike, then a road bike may not be the best choice for you, and maybe you should on a mountain bike or hybrid bike. On the other hand, if you think you'll enjoy zipping through country lanes at speed, then a road bike is the ideal choice.
