I wanted this article to give you an idea of who you this advice in the first place and, secondly, to impart a little friendly advice on how to mountain bike accessories and equipment, which I have found essential for my rides.
Initially I started cycling when I was 4 years old, which in itself seems not so much performance for the average person, but I learned to ride on a single speed two adult size Wheeler Cruiser Bike. My father used to get around the yard on this monolithic piece of steel with two very large tires and a tractor size space. One day, when he tells the story, I said: "Dad, you do not need no more to me - I think I can ride on my own." Now he laughed, but reluctant to let go of the seat anyway, running on the side of the bike to make sure I did not. Much to his surprise, I just kept, although I could not reach, while the pedals sitting on the seat I was in kindergarten and then ever since I have the love and passion for the world of bicycles.
My first bikes were hand-Me-Downs by cousins. My first motorcycle was a new bright red CCM bike with a banana seat and chopper handlebars. I have this bike for my 7th Birthday - in January! Of course I could not drive it in winter, but I would be on every day in the lobby with the kick stand to tilt it forward so the rear would be out of the ground and spinning. I have so much that in the winter, I had a hole through the linoleum floor in the mud room porch directly into the plywood floor. By the time I was 9 years old, I had probably over 1000 miles on the bike I was always that my dreams can imagine. I have the gift of mobility and the world was in my hand. I rode that bike, where I was from the local High School, where I shook hands with the late Prime Minister Pierre Elliott Trudeau, to Hooking with my friends, in search of turtle eggs in the mud, in order to explore a ghost town.
When I 9, we had to move and unfortunately because of the distance, we could not at the wheel so we had to be sold. I was devastated! But the following year my grandfather had a beat Raleigh Stingray Orange Crate in bright orange - it was my dream bike. I've seen that bike hanging in the bike shop window and wanted it so badly, but knew it would be impossible as there would be no way we will ever make. My grandfather established that the bike and the new tires on it for me and again, I'm that bike everywhere. It was the coolest bike on the block, with a large high back banana chopper-style seat, a 3-speed auto shifter and great style with chopper bars.
In recent years, I have to love the sport mountain bike, made our honeymoon (not to see it with my wife) on a bike / camping vacation in Colorado, Utah, Nevada and Montana - the coolest honeymoon ever (for me at any rate), although I have to my wife to Venezuela the following winter for what they called "true honeymoon". In the last 10-15 years, I also race in several fun races of the 24 hours of adrenaline, the Niagara Falls Subaru Triathlon series and have probably more about bikes than I ever knew before the race.
This brings me to the topic, what kind of mountain bike accessories you should be in your package?
I have learned through the school of hard blows in recent years, what mountain bike accessories you must have and what are the nice to have.
Helm
The first and most important thing that everyone needs is of course a helmet for safety and many states / provinces have made it mandatory and will be fine, if you are not caught, is one plus a good brain bucket can save your life too - believe me, I 've been on my bars enough to know this first hand. If I do not wear, I would be walking around like a boxer Retired now, if not pushing daisies.
Mountain Bike Shoes
They have been cycling for many years to bear, just an ordinary pair of running shoes, but I recommend that you own a pair of cycling shoes with cleats and proper clip into the pedals. You will be amazed at how efficiently your will, especially upwards Hills (in a future post I'll give you my secret tip for all, to conquer hills on the bike)
Tools
In my opinion, this is the next most important mountain bike accessory to own other than a helmet. I personally with a Topeak Alien Multi-Tool in a small Fanny pack under my seat along with a spare tube and a small pump, the one on my water bottle screws. You can use the Topeak Alien Multi-Tool on the right hand column of this blog and I highly recommend this purchase as your first time.
Other mountain bike accessories you should take gloves to help hand fatigue, sports sunglasses (in particular, the kind with interchangeable lenses for different weather conditions), and a cycle computer for things like distance, speed, cadence (Do yourself a favor and the wireless kind). I will be posting more reviews in the future for these and many other exciting mountain bike accessories.
Until then I wish you a happy and safe trip for you and your families.
