A car tested by history, the Corvette was on time and on the racing history of his linage, this car is without a doubt, stood up to every test that it has gone through, oh yeah it had its down time, which was the 1980 for the Corvette, and many people wonder if there is a return, you could say that it has done just that.
Each car has its rough patches, its design and its revisions error, the Corvette is one of the best examples of the durability that every car company has ever seen, usually sports cars and muscle cars come and go, but the Corvette has never anywhere yet, it seems to just keep standing the test of time and evolve into a better and better car.
You can say what about the Mustang, while bragging about cars that stand that test of time, the Corvette was came out eleven years before the Mustang, only to see that theory to rest, the Mustang was introduced to compete with the Corvette and the Corvette was just the better car in most respects, handling, power and most other tests, that they went through they did beat the Mustang in.
The Corvette has a fantastic history of the Chevrolet Motor Company in 1953, Chevrolet entered Zora Arkus Duntov, the development of the Corvette, and that he did, he was chief engineer on the Corvette project, and he made it a couple of amazing things, it would go to see amazing people to the latest model.
Zora, General Motors in 1953 after seeing the Motorama Corvette on display in New York. Perhaps it was fate that Zora happened to the thousands of people who are at the GM event. Zora found around the car visually excellent, but was disappointed, which is underneath. He wrote Chevrolet chief engineer Ed Cole that it would complement the work on such a nice car, he also included a technical paper in which an analytical procedure for determining a car, the maximum speed. Chevrolet was so impressed that engineer Maurice Olley invited him to Detroit after. On 1 May 1953, Zora Arkus-Duntov Chevrolet started as assistant staff engineer.
In 1963 Zora would the Gran Sport program. The original idea captured the interest and imagination of Corvette fans around the world. The idea was to create a special lightweight Corvette weighs only 1800 pounds and the race on an international circuit, not only against the Cobras and other GT-class race but only prototypes of Ferrari, Ford and Porsche. Power for the Grand Sport, it was from an aluminum version of the small block V8, with a special twin-plug cylinder heads. On 377ci, output was a projected 550hp at 6400 rpm. But as so often, GM policy prohibited Zora races to go, but not before five Grand Sports were built. The five Grand Sports eventually fell into the hands of private owners, and Zora somehow found a way to make them despite the official ban.
Zora retired in 1975, so the reins to Dave McLellan. For 81 years, Zora Arkus-Duntov still passionate and opinionated about his car, the Corvette. It was during the time between Zora into retirement and his death that his legend grew. Whenever something happens Corvette, Zora was. A member of the Drag Racing Hall of Fame, the Chevrolet Legends of performance, and the Automotive Hall of Fame, Zora took part in the introduction of the 1-millionth Corvette in Bowling Green in 1992. He drove the bulldozer at the groundbreaking ceremonies for the National Corvette Museum in 1994. Six weeks before his death, Zora was guest speaker at "" Corvette: a celebration of an American dream, "an evening at the show of Jack Cauley Chevrolet Detroit. Was that the night was Dave McLellen and the current Corvette Chief Engineer Dave Hill, but nobody can claim that Zora stole the show.
In 1966 Chevrolet had brain burst, and an animal called L88 Corvette with a factory rating of 435 HP, which is a significant under-employment rating, the car was closer to 600 hp, in 1967, the Corvette once again prove themselves with the winning the 24 Hours of Le Mans, as against the Porsche and Ferrari, this time would be worldwide recognition and become a real player in the sports world, the U.S. was finally with the big boys. The Corvette has a big impression on the racing world.
This car could be your own with the best the Europeans had to offer, it would sell through the roof for Chevrolet, it was also Chevrolet's wildest dreams, and they divided into two categories, it was a sports car and a muscle car, the Corvette has done what no other American car had ever before, the L88 Corvette was truly a car to be seen.
And that was not the end of the amazing benefits for this very special car, in 1969, a slip of the tongue would happen to the Chevrolet plant at the time they were building two very special cars for a few of the big wigs at Chevrolet Motor division, those vehicles were allegedly never to the public, they were built to adapt to the racetrack, race cars and really, not trams.
The error would allow these two cars from the plant and sold to two of Chevrolet's showroom, I do not know what Showrooms they were, but these cars were ZL1 Corvettes, and it was a white building, and Saturn yellow, yellow and one was auctioned off after the government seized drug in a RAID, it was auctioned for $ 500,000.
The Corvette was Zl1 to 450 hp from the factory, but estimates it closer to an honest 670 hp, this car to the highest horsepower car ever built during this time and, as you can imagine these cars are worth a lot of money Today, if you find that it came from the factory with a roll-bar and a lot of other race cars, due to the fact that it meant the race.
