What has 240 Dyno-proven horsepower bike, a big spoiler, comfortable and stylish seats, 5 speed manual gearbox, differential lock, start-up and no-lift shift feature?
A Lancer Evolution? Nope.
An Impreza STI? Nope.
It is a Chevrolet Cobalt SS / TC. This pocket-rocket of Chevy is incredibly fast for a car. I have already seen reports of 240 wheel-hp and 13.xx second at 100 + mph quarter miles running. What makes this car so special? The Evo and STI also can achieve, such as statistics, but the SS Turbo is for only $ 22,000! The start and no-lift shift will really help the car on the drag strip. With the break of the front wheel drive record at Nurburgring they proved that they own around the curves. The SS quickly brakes with 4 piston Brembo front brake system for the emergency stop, but also has side airbags in the event that you can not stop.
It sounds like Chevrolet did everything right with this car. It has almost the price is right, the power is great, the style is good and the interior is on par. The biggest problems for me are that there is a very large turning circle. It is difficult to squeeze into tight parking spots, so you will probably all SS cobalt in the back of the lot. The spoiler is a bit bright and thin, but you can find the SS with a small spoiler, which I recommend. The launch can rev up to high, and this allows the car to turn the wheels. This must be done at about 2500-3000 rpm, to really help new drivers.
Overall I would say that the SS is a definite buy, if you're in the market for a 2-door sports compact. Some other options that are in the same class, the Mazda Speed 3 and Dodge Caliber SRT-4. Both vehicles are the car, and I think she is on a different market than the SS.
