In fickle automotive industry, manufacturers constantly pressured to be more innovative and try to create a product to a consumer who more often than not, do not really know exactly what it is that he wants. Few brands inspire loyalty they had 20 or even 30 years. Synonymous with luxury, high quality and speed, the BMW brand is a name of the world than the automobile, which everyone ultimately wants to own.
While the company seems to have a tremendous record of success, but few people realize how difficult this way. Founded in 1913 by Karl Rapp, the company (then as the Rapp Motor Works) was originally in an old bicycle factory in Munich. Rapp specializes in the manufacture of engines for aircraft. Only 4 years later, in 1917, but Rapp's business has run into financial difficulties and was designed by Franz-Josef Popp and Max Friz. It was then that the name of the company was changed to Bayerische Motoren Werke, or, as we know it, BMW.
In 1918, the Bavarian Motor Works to a public company and the first real success came with the 6-cylinder BMW IIIa, an airplane engine, a biplane 5,000 meters into the sky in about 30 minutes. In 1923 she led the first BMW motorcycle, the R32. The R32 to accelerate records about the next ten years.
In 1928, BMW cars and began the manufacture of the acquired Eisenach vehicle factory in Germany. In the early 1960s, the Bavarian Motor Works started in a market, including small touring and sport sedans. From 1963, the company was back on solid footing and offered dividends to shareholders for the first time since the Second World War. It was in the mid-1960s that the German plant reaches production capacity and BMW bought Hans Glas GmbH and works in Dingolfing and Landshut. In the following years, the plants are restructured and quickly became one of the world's largest BMW plant.
It was also during this time that BMW opens its first production facility outside of Germany in Spartanburg, South Carolina. In the next twenty years quadrupled production of BMW cars, while there is a tripling of motorcycle production. In 1975, BMW North America was founded and established its headquarters in Woodcliff, New Jersey, USA. Today, the BMW International in Peru, Panama, Indonesia, Japan, Philippines, Australia, South Africa, Czech Republic, France, Britain, Iceland, Italy, Portugal, Switzerland, Brazil, Latin America, Israel, Taiwan, New Zealand, Austria, the Netherlands, Sweden, Spain, Colombia and the Middle East.
