In the last six months I get a lot of questions, how can I improve my fuel economy in a big SUV. While consumers expect the impossible solutions to the 25-30 mpg of resources from which I found it difficult to they say to do this, or install that, or just do not do these things. And to know I am fully aware that the general improvement in the bottom line was only 10% better, very little change to make they make sense and could be expensive. The Chevrolet Tahoe is one of the quintessential niche vehicle in the GM line, and it is simply important for the further research of new and innovative ways to keep in further controversy when it came to expensive gasoline or exciting competition. When I heard through the vineyard that a 2-mode hybrid system will his way into this benchmark SUV's, I had to research more and find out if what he had to offer a value of the King ransom. I'm driving the 2008 Chevrolet Tahoe Hybrid and receive the full range of information consumers need to know.
At first, I could not help but notice the amount of the hybrid Tahoe was the sticker Sporting. Apparently, GM is trying to select the word in a large, if it is after me, I would give me the detail shop, to be removed. There are important details down, that this model from the rest. The front bumper and bumper have been modified for better aerodynamics. This has 20 "wheels, an exclusive feature, this Tahoe and apart from the rest. Moreover, this LED taillights, resculptured plates and plastic pieces fit in the lightweight. It was a Tahoe, but a lot of each other against a Army and 50 other Tahoe models.
The difference maker is what is in the technical marvel wants a hybrid system that works together in harmony. Tahoe Hybrid course with a 6.0L V8 with a Continuously Variable Transmission, 2 81hp motors, and a 300-volt nickel-hydride battery system. Let's see how it all together.
The 2WD LT2 model I drove was as quiet. It uses a combination of engine and engine power on the creation and calm with only the engine performance at idle. As I shifted into drive, the first 7-15 mph was calm, sounded like a Golf Cart. And as I continue, stepped into the engine, and it is slightly below the navigation interface and exhaust sound. This interface is nice to know what mode I was in a snap with simple, colorful pictures to show me all the details. Also, this was great because I am to be frugal and try to walk, in an economical fashion. The whole engine performance does not disappoint either, it was fluid and seamless. The continuous transmission was smooth, I did not feel the gear shifts or gas kick down the electric motors in the gaps filled. It is with this power, the Tahoe hybrid can still tow 7000 lbs an incredible, fascinating! With the interface, there is also a marketing, measurement, and an instant fuel economy meter in the center-driver told me that all the relevant information. In my 50 + miles trip, I averaged around 17.8 mpg, this test, I was flogging the accelerator very often.
So with all the use of power, how exactly does the Tahoe Hybrid regenerate itself? First of all, this is not a "plug-in hybrid", its renewal comes from the brakes. As we slow down, the engines charging the batteries with regenerative braking, a very intelligent and innovative function. This was a non-maintenance, and was very easy to understand, from the go. The batteries are hidden under the second row of the cabin, I had to literally touch with the sales consultant, where it was very well hidden. I also found out that there are some functions (power lift gate, power release second row seats) you can not on these Tahoe hybrid that others have, more or less for weight savings.
All in all, the Tahoe Hybrid does not offer great fuel economy gains, I was not too impressed, but I had to set the overall picture. This is of course the large SUV arena, so that new trends in this space is certainly to be welcomed. Basic 2WD LT2models start near $ 48K and go from there, depending on how fancy consumers. The base model comes stacked with nav, leather appointed seating, Bose, very nice actually. This hybrid system is expensive, it has all the right things very well, consumers just have to decide whether it is the money they want to invest in such a car tubers. A great step forward and step in the right direction for GM, this new technology will make their way into other GM vehicles? It would be a wise idea ...
