So, you've decided to take a used mountain bike, but have difficulties to choose between a hardtail or full suspension mountain bike. Of course, the debate between hardtail and full suspension mountain bikes have raged for a very long time, but there are some important questions to consider when it comes to buying a used bike.

In fact, buying used really affect the way you look at the whole full suspension vs. hardtail question. To understand, let's talk about the fundamental differences between full suspension and hardtail bikes, and then see how the purchase can be used to change the nature of how these differences.

Let's start with the hardtail. Hardtail, as the name suggests, no suspension on the back. This leads to an easier, simpler, cheaper and bicycle. A hard tail, all other things equal, lighter than a full suspension bike. Also the lack of suspension, they can be much easier and cheaper. You are always better for your money with a hardtail. However, all this in a faster, better ride?

Proponents of full suspension bikes would say no. Although a rear axle system on a bicycle increases the weight and complexity very clearly, many argue that the increased smoothness of the ride makes it a little more efficiency in the long run. Of course, efficient or not, your body will thank you for the choice of a smooth Riding a full suspension bike! But all this comes at the cost of increased weight, complexity and cost. For many people, but this is worth it.

So, how does all this effect buyers of used bikes? As it turns out, is at the used market ads a whole new wrinkle to the decision. Of course, the same differences up now, but you have to consider suspension of various technologies, as well the bike has been maintained, and much more.

Think about it. A hardtail mountain bike is pretty basic, and really has not changed that much over the years. Full suspension bikes, on the other hand, are always evolving with technology. Suspension design change shocks better, and all the technology changes very quickly. This makes the purchase of a full suspension bike older unattractive to many, because you can buy it on some very old technique, which seem very outdated. On the other hand, if you are a Hardtail, this is not much of an issue.

Another aspect is how well each bike has been maintained. Hardtail can much abuse, but full suspension designs to provide. Be on the lookout for this shop, as you used for your mountain bike.

Most people already have their minds on the bike that they would prefer, but if you are on the fence, then make sure the dots before. Which bike you choose, but be sure that you are still a lot of fun biking, no matter what kind of suspension you have.
